After years of working in other kitchens and a stint as a personal chef, Jen Howard found herself ready to fulfill her childhood dream of owning her own small cafe and opened Leo’s table in 2019. Both the physical space and the brand had to feel cozy, local, and like the family operation that it is. Gravity Switch designed a brand that conveyed a vintage, farm table feeling using warm earth tones, traditional typefaces, and lithograph-style illustrations. As time moved on, we built upon the brand identity by adding hand-drawn-style food icons and custom-illustrated “food friends” to be used throughout all branding materials. When it came time to update the menu to represent the most current food and drink offerings, it offered the perfect opportunity to combine the pre-existing brand elements with the newly created food characters and icon set.
