ACAMS Today Ninth Law Enforcement Edition Cover

Financial exploitation is a fast-growing, yet unfortunate form of abuse on the elderly and disabled. We sought to put a spotlight on this heinous crime by featuring it on the cover of our Ninth Law Enforcement Edition. The cover features the wrinkled hands of an elderly woman holding a photo of herself in better days. It is obvious to the reader that this woman served in the military and is part of the greatest generation. She achieved great things in her life and deserves great respect. She could be your grandmother, your great aunt, or a family friend. At the end of the day, financial exploitation is not a victimless crime as there is a real person at the other end that suffers. The article covers not only the extent of elder financial exploitation but how awareness and training could help anti-money laundering professionals and the community at large combat this crime. Moreover, the release of the magazine in June coincided with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.
