In 2019, AGAR had the opportunity to create the first-ever, company-wide, experiential three-day camp for college students to immerse in Procter & Gamble’s culture, get to know each function within the organization, and interview with hiring leaders. The objective of the program, in line with P&G’s commitment to equality and inclusion, was to attract and secure top diverse talent. Thus, Standout: Emerging Leaders Camp was born! The music festival-inspired event transformed the walls of P&G and provided students with a unique introduction to the city of Cincinnati, while preparing them for a future career with the company.

When the pandemic hit, though, it became clear that there would be a need for a stand-in for Standout. Because summer interns account for 50% of P&G new hires in the US, we had to figure out how to provide an extraordinary experience for 2021 campers. We achieved this by creating an immersive program (with live keynote sessions, networking, pre-recorded content, and Q&As) hosted on a custom, virtual event hub to bring the full P&G Standout experience to students regardless of where they were physically located.

To initiate communication with students and heighten excitement before the event, the AGAR team distributed virtual and physical kits to participants. Delivered via email, the virtual kit included the Standout 2021 playlist, virtual backgrounds, and website instructions. A curated, physical kit was delivered in a Standout branded box full of branded apparel and promotional items.

During the virtual experience, students could explore the Standout Campsite. This custom website included 7 clickable areas that led campers to a wide variety of landing pages and experiences. Many of these virtual spaces were interactive, 3D renderings of P&G’s headquarters. Additionally, each virtual space housed a variety of tools to follow the programming agenda, network with fellow participants, and learn more about P&G careers, values and spaces.
