Manberg Strategies teamed up with Dakota AG Energy, a consulting agency specializing in renewable fuels policy, and the Clean Fuels Development Coalition, a non-profit that supports programs and policies that expand the market for renewable fuels, to position the South Dakota Farmers Union (SDFU) as an industry leader in the promotion of high-octane, low carbons fuels—such as corn ethanol—as a solution to improving the Nation’s environment, economy and public health. As one of the largest producers of corn in the nation, SDFU recognizes they have the power to further invigorate the ethanol industry. They also know the value of corn ethanol goes way beyond helping the family farmer and can benefit all Americans since it\'s octane enhancing abilities mean it can reduce harmful toxins from gasoline exhaust.

Our team planned and executed a high-profile event at the UN Foundation in Washington DC, the National Clean Fuels Technology & Health Effects Leadership Forum, to serve as a foundation for the campaign and establish SDFU as a clear leader on the issue. The February kick-off event reached more than half a million people through earned media, a live webcast—made possible by co-host Environment & Energy Study Institute—and social promotion by event co-hosts and organizers. Highlights of additional work throughout the year included sending letters to federal officials, placing opeds and conducting interviews in national and regional media outlets and compiling research to create resources to educate key audiences.
