Simplifying Complexities Through Illustration

GE engaged NJI to create a custom illustration for their modernizing AIR™ Recon DL — Deep Learning Technology. Launched in 2022, this MRI software is revolutionizing the medical space with improved image quality and reduced scan time. The groundbreaking innovation also enables technicians to interpret results more easily while delivering a confident diagnosis. Utilizing isometric perspective with a clean and simple style, NJI’s illustration simplifies Deep Learning Technology and showcases moments of action within the process.

The design process began with hand-drawn sketches, where NJI worked closely with MRI experts to break down the technical aspects of the device into digestible visual concepts. We used different colors to guide audiences through the story — yellow to highlight key points of the journey, green for the realistic physical world, and blue for the more fantastical representation of the MRI process. The illustration simplifies a convoluted yet critical healthcare concept, bridging the gap between the complexities of AI and public understanding. The design and execution offer a unique visual interpretation of an intricate machine, providing clarity and building confidence among healthcare stakeholders and the general public.
