As AstraZeneca’s Head of US Corporate Affairs for Respiratory & Immunology (R&I), Vaccines & Immune Therapies (V&I) Blake McEvoy drives the development and execution of integrated external and internal Corporate Affairs strategies, working closely with the US and Global therapy area teams, alongside the departments within US Corporate Affairs spanning External Affairs, Internal Communications, Advocacy and Alliance, Policy and Government Affairs to help achieve the therapy area’s ambition, mission and goals.Known for his collaborative and humble yet go-getter spirit, Blake has been with AstraZeneca for over a decade, working across each US therapy area and Mature Brands portfolio with increasing responsibility in US and Global Corporate Affairs. He joined the Global Corporate Affairs team over three years ago to lead communications for the metabolism portfolio within the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism therapy area (CVMR), overseeing the Corporate Affairs strategy for the CVD-REAL study and DELCARE-TIMI 58 trial results, & industry-leading DapaCare clinical development program for Farxiga. Most recently, Blake served as the Global Patient Centricity, Strategy and Engagement Leader for Global Corporate Affairs where he created AstraZeneca’s now annual “Patient Week,” to facilitate a patient-centric culture. In this role, Blake also launched the company’s first Global patient centricity scorecard in partnership with teams across AstraZeneca and external partners. In the past year, Blake led the entire AZ US R&I, V&I portfolio, which represents more than $2B in revenue – to success, supporting 65 brand and data milestones and seven Congresses; launching 10 patient-focused influencer campaigns with 34+ influencers, including five celebrity spokespeople; and helping drive over 1.4K earned & paid media placements resulting in 7B+ impressions.Most noteworthy, Blake spearheaded the robust communications strategy supporting AstraZeneca’s EVUSHELD, the first long-acting monoclonal antibody which was authorized under Emergency Use in the US to provide supplemental protection from COVID-19 in immunocompromised people. The impact of this effort has been staggering; in its first six weeks alone, the campaign totaled 4.8B+ total impressions and 390K website visits, with over 700 IC Americans signing up to share their stories and a 128% increase in patients who have spoken to their doctor about long-acting antibodies.
