Launched spring 2022 on IMTS+ – a digital platform dedicated to all things manufacturing technology – the second season of “Road Trippin’ with Steve,” brought to you by EOS, takes the audience on a historical journey through the big state of Texas to spotlight the technologies and innovation behind 3D printing and additive manufacturing. Hosted by the legendary Stephen LaMarca, the senior technology analyst at AMT – Association For Manufacturing Technology, the show follows Steve as he searches for the birthplace, and future, of additive technologies.
Buckle up for four episodes that will capture your mind and creativity to introduce you to the world of 3D printing. The show kicks off at the University of Texas at Austin, a perfect place to begin any tour of additive manufacturing history. The “Road Trippin’” crew had the pleasure of learning from Jared Allison, Ph.D., the operations manager at the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Design Innovation, and got to peek at some vintage videos of folks doing some 3D printing at the Center—in the ‘80s! From there, the crew headed to Essentium, a small startup that quickly became a heavy hitter in the industry by using a painstaking manufacturing process to create the highest-quality pellets and filaments for 3D printing. From there they hit EOS, one of the largest companies in the additive space, to see the present and future of additive while closing out the series at Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies in Dallas, meeting up with Dr. Jason Jones to learn about the seven families of how to integrate additive into traditional manufacturing.
