LOGO DESIGN FOR SWAWEK, AN INTERIOR DESIGN FIRM

Swawek creates interior objects for restaurants, hotels or corporate companies, ranging from seating

elements in a lobby with sound-absorbing materials to lighting objects.

He also designs unique objects for the individual.

Swawek’s work is best described as quirky, artistic and eclectic through the use of unusual shapes, materials and fabrics.

Where handcrafted interior design uses shapes to create interior objects we decided to use geometrical shapes to create the typography for the logo.

Swawek, swawek, sWaWeK or SWAWEK

The notation of the name largely determines the appearance. In addition, its representation with geometric shapes determines the readability and the unity that the characters had to form together.

It quickly became clear that the use of lower case characters needed too many shapes to represent those characters, which did not benefit the readability. Capital characters became our starting point.

Still there were many ways to create the characters. We created a variety of the characters we needed to form the name ‘Swawek’.

With the brand values and readability in mind, we combined the individual characters, but the height of

the lettering wasn’t equal for all characters. It was still a rough sketch.

Combining the characters in this stage of development though, brought one of the brand values to the surface: eclectic. Call it capricious in the state the sketch was in.

We decided to keep the diversity in height, but to make a grid to unify the characters to a solid and

readable logo.

COLOR

A colourful palet suits the brand values here, where transparancies mark the readability and image.

Transparency is the main inspiration for Swawek: the customer is where the inspiration is coming from.
