We are helping UMGC to create a Leadership Learning and Development Program (LLDP) that will train and develop multiple levels of leaders within UMGC, including Emerging Leaders. The LLDP offers four unique training tracks, each providing a range of learning options. One of these tracks is the Foundational Track.
This submission highlights the Foundations of Strategic Thinking web-based course, part of the Foundational Track that was launched in late 2024. UMGC has recently adopted a new Strategic Plan that will guide us through 2030. This course plays a vital role in helping us communicate that plan and understand how their work contributes meaningfully to their mission.
This course incorporates exploration, character conversations, instant feedback, decision-making, reflection, animated videos, and personalization to improve knowledge transfer and create a better experience for learners. In addition, a Reflection Journal is available for download at the end of the course. It includes key points and tips from the course to jog the learner’s memory and prompts them to practice behaviors and discover the skills that align to UMGC’s Strategic Priorities as they progress. So far, the Foundations of Strategic Thinking has received incredibly positive feedback, with participants expressing that it truly encourages them to reflect on their Why and their work.
