After 7 years of intense rivalry and speculation, 2020 would bring about the launch of the next-generation Xbox and Playstation consoles: a key moment for gamers worldwide. With the conversation at an all time high as a result of the June 11th Sony “Reveal” Event, we saw an opportunity to hit KFC’s objectives in a way that had never been attempted before. In order to create real results beyond logo placement and truly entertain KFC consumers, we decided to create our own entry point into the console wars narrative, join an already organic conversation and to take Xbox and Sony head-on, “officially” launching our own KFConsole.
We created a bespoke, CGI cinematic launch trailer that would stand shoulder to shoulder with our hardware competitors. This low budget, high value asset was produced and edited in-house via our creative team & supported via social strategy, influencer marketing and press office management. Gamers around the world LOVED IT. We secured twice as many views as the official Xbox launch trailer and sat only 500,000 behind Sony\\\'s new playstation 5 at 4.1 million. To date the console features in over 266 articles globally and the world awaits to see when they can pre-order this finger-licking good hardware.
