For the first time in 10 years, Travel Manitoba and Tourism Winnipeg would be inviting the 1500+ Rendez-vous Canada (RVC) attendees to come to Winnipeg in 2025. The opportunity was to produce a stunning video and luncheon event to set the tone and inspire the audience to answer the call of Canada’s heart when Winnipeg, Manitoba would announce they would be the host city for RVC 2025. Premiering at RVC 2024, the video was specially edited to play on dramatic screens extending the entire length of the Edmonton Convention Centre, capturing the audience’s attention with spectacular visuals.
Our goal was to impress the organizers and capture the hearts of tourism-savvy travel trade buyers and sellers from across Canada and around the world, specifically for representatives working in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Australian markets. We knew that speaking through powerful imagery would break down language barriers and evoke the heartfelt excitement, awe and curiosity we wanted the audience to feel. As the 2025 hosts, Travel Manitoba wanted to ensure our tourism operators and partners felt confident in our ability to re-create and elevate the experience of RVC.
The luncheon of 1,000 guests played a game of bingo hosted by Manitoba ambassador and Virgin Radio personality Ace Burpee. We partnered with local Indigenous artist Jordan Stranger to develop a design for RVC 2025, unveiled at the luncheon, layered with the powerful visuals of Manitoba’s most heart-stirring travel experiences. The video displayed on a custom screen 105 feet-wide by 11.5 feet-tall, with vertical columns revealing dramatic experiences and destinations within the province, wowing the audience of tourism industry professionals.
In dramatic extreme full screen, the video brought to life the stunning experiences found in Winnipeg and Manitoba, welcoming the world to RVC 2025. While annual tourism spending in 2023 surpassed pre-pandemic figures, international travel has yet to fully recover. As the province’s tourism organization, Travel Manitoba had the chance to help aid in that recovery by amazing the audience of global tourism professionals and showcasing Manitoba through our refreshed brand, Canada’s Heart Is Calling.
