Creating the Erksholm: The Stolen Dream launch trailer was an exciting challenge for us at Layer. From the very beginning, our goal was to craft something cinematic and immersive - a trailer that didn’t just show gameplay, but invited players into the world of Erksholm. We wanted to highlight the tension, strategy, and narrative of the game while keeping the pacing engaging and dynamic.
The game’s unique visual style gave us a lot of creative room to play. Its isometric cityscapes, moody lighting, and richly detailed environments became a playground for composition, allowing us to combine cinematic camera angles with carefully captured gameplay. Every cut was designed to feel intentional, building rhythm and energy while demonstrating stealth mechanics and the clever strategies the game offers.
Sound design was equally important. By layering atmospheric effects with well-timed audio cues, we were able to enhance suspense and pull viewers into the world, making each scene feel alive and charged with tension.
Ultimately, the trailer succeeds because it communicates the heart of the game: a mysterious, beautiful, and strategic world that’s as inviting as it is challenging. We’re proud of how it captures Erksholm’s spirit and gives players a glimpse of the adventure that awaits.
