Working on the Bounty Star release date trailer was an absolute blast for the team at Layer - but it was also a creative challenge we were excited to tackle. The game lives in two big spaces at once: intimate character moments and massive, high‑octane mech battles. Our job was to bring those together in a way that feels natural, exciting, and emotionally engaging, all within the tight runtime of a trailer.
From the start, we knew the trailer needed a strong narrative pull. Players should feel connected to the protagonist and understand what they’re fighting for, even before they see the first giant explosion. That meant weaving character beats into the edit in a way that feels personal without slowing the pace.
At the same time, we couldn’t lose sight of the epic gameplay core - the towering mechs, explosive combat, and strategic battle choreography that give the game its power fantasy. Balancing those two worlds was all about pacing and contrast: letting quieter, story‑driven moments breathe, then launching into dynamic action sequences that remind viewers just how intense the battles can be.
Sound design and music were huge helpers here too, giving emotional cues that tie character moments to the roar of mech combat. The result is a trailer that feels big and cinematic, but still grounded in character - something we’re really proud of.
