Resilient Futures is the launch campaign for a new Economist Enterprise initiative examining how global systems must evolve in response to climate risk, geopolitical fragmentation and environmental limits. Designed to introduce the platform and drive audiences towards its research and insights, the campaign positions resilience not as short-term crisis response, but as long-term systems redesign.
The central illustration shows a coin in motion, its changing faces revealing three symbols representing the initiative’s core pillars: the energy transition, resilience and adaptation, and regenerative systems. The moving coin acts as a metaphor for both chance and intent, reflecting the uncertainty of an era shaped by climate shocks, environmental limits and geopolitical instability, while also suggesting the deliberate choices required to build more adaptive and regenerative systems. Its movement reinforces the idea of transition, showing resilience as an active process of change.
Anchored by the line “Don’t leave resilience to chance,” the campaign translates a complex systems-based proposition into a clear and memorable visual idea. Designed to work across multiple campaign formats, the illustration was created to capture attention quickly, communicate the initiative’s ambition with clarity, and establish a distinctive launch identity for the platform.
