Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, a non-profit organization that makes meaningful, professionally supported matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, came to the ASU PR Lab with a challenge. They had a long waiting list for young boys in the Valley wanting a male mentor, but not enough mentors to serve the need. Some children were waiting three years. The PR Lab team decided to draft a pitch to the media with a local story angle of a Big and Little success story despite the pandemic and quarantine. The local Fox 10 station interviewed both the Big and Little and shared the story of needing Bigs to serve as mentors to our children. The day of the broadcast, the website inquiries to serve as a mentor hit 4, then 9 then 16 the following days.
