Identification International, Inc. (i3), a leader in the fingerprinting industry, was introducing a new technology at a major international tradeshow in April 2019. They engaged Uncork-it, Inc. to create a video that would:
• Attract attention at a crowded, busy venue,
• Explain a complex technology simply and compellingly, and
• Motivate viewers to come to the booth and learn more.
The tradeshow, LAAD Defence & Security 2019, was taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It would be attended by more than 35,000 professionals from over 75 countries.
i3’s new technology is 3D fingerprinting. Historically, fingerprint processing has been limited to using two dimensional images. i3 has developed a way to access the full topography—length, width, and depth—of a fingerprint and its features, resulting in increasingly reliable, higher quality fingerprint images.
In fingerprinting parlance, different areas of a fingerprint are referred to as ridges, lakes, and valleys. Uncork-it developed a “frontier in fingerprinting” theme for the video.
The principal visual was a 2D fingerprint transformed into a 3D landscape. The fingerprint was in the vibrant green of i3’s brand.
The video, 1:14 minutes in length, was played on a continuous loop on a large screen at i3’s booth at the conference. A voiceover in English was added, with subtitles for ease of understanding in an international setting.
“The Frontier of Fingerprinting” was a resounding success at the tradeshow. As a result, i3 has asked Uncork-it to use the frontier theme to redo their existing website.
