NEXT/NOW worked with Morton Salt to develop, design, and create a WebAR experience for their long-standing Erase Food Waste Campaign. Launched by scanning a custom icon on Morton Salt’s new product packaging, consumers are transported into a fantastic world of living food. Nine detailed character-animated vignettes encourage people to erase food waste by revealing creative recipes that utilize the food they may already have on hand. The scenes are highly detailed, with each exuding a unique personality and recipe. This highly engaging approach to Morton Salt’s new packaging sought to be both timely and accessible. With the number of people cooking from home at an increase amid the pandemic, the message of remaining mindful toward food waste became more relevant than ever. As WebAR allowed the project to reach consumers in the safety and comfort of their homes, this message could be spread in an exciting way that still respected the comfort level of each consumer.
