Important changes were coming to some peoples Superannuation, so our brief was simple. Tell people that changes are coming on July 1. But when an important looking letter can easily be ignored, how do you best let people know? Go all out, that’s how. This spot utilises a range of comedic vignettes to illustrate the lengths ASFA have gone to in order to let people know that their Super is changing. The light-hearted comedy allowed us to talk to our audience without putting them off guard. Whilst the relatable and knowledgeable voice over disseminated important information. It was crucial that the spot feel relatable. We were cognisant of not being too authoritative as it may make our audience cagey and less receptive to our message. As part of our brief we needed to make the lengths that ASFA had gone to seem grand and far reaching. Given the tight budget, this meant utilising clever post effects to create crop circles and sky writing to illustrate the wider reaching effect of the messaging. We also kept a lot of our coverage tight in order to utilise only two cast members throughout multiple scenes. Doing this meant the cast felt far bigger than it is. Ensuring we had cast members that were relatable but still able to pull of the nuanced comedy was important too. Our brief was to create a spot that told people to check their superannuation before July 1st. We employed comedic visuals, borrowing from a Wes Anderson/Napoleon Dynamite style and coupled this with nuanced comedic performance and a young, reliable and witty voice over. In doing this we created a spot that performed well and helped get the messaging out to the Australian public in a way that they could connect with
