Annually, Power takes their 2,500 employees (and a significant other) on an all expense paid vacation to Cancun, Mexico. The trip includes a variety of once in a lifetime experiences, such as private beach concerts from performers like B.O.B and Macklemore. It also serves as a celebration of our Power family and the hard work it takes to earn this privilege each year. This video communicates facets that make up a colorful and successful life within Power’s walls, and exemplifies the event theme of “Power Life in Color”.
Some challenges the team faced were in defining the most important aspects of the trip, the emotions they were designed to elicit from attendees, and how to capture these moments in the most impactful way. After identifying these feelings, the team had to be intentional in capturing those emotions organically throughout the 3 day experience.
The target audience for this video is first and foremost our current employee base, but secondarily, we use this video to target potential new recruits to the organization as well.
The concept for this video came from a cross-functional team consisting of a photographer, content strategist, video producer, copy writer and special events coordinator during our annual creative sprint prior to the trip. The team worked together to study associations between color and emotion in order to connect video, photo and event campaigns in a linear and cohesive way. As a result, post-event merchandising carried through the overarching event theme of “Power Life in Color” throughout a variety of media in a clear and intentional way. The video not only showcases the exceptional quality of the event production, but messages how meaningful and impactful the trip can truly be on the life and career of attendees.
