Breaking Beauty is a seven-part Crackle original documentary series where bail bondsman and dudeoir model Josh Varozza takes viewers on a tour of the country, exploring new definitions of what the word "beauty" truly means. Josh posed for a calendar spread where his puckish personality and unconventional body confidence caused the provocative photos (as a mermaid and a Baywatch life guard among others) went viral as the public resonated with the husky hero .
We live in an advertising-fueled digitally-enhanced world where the only examples of beauty we commonly see are impossible to attain because they are simply not real. These idols of beauty are the result of computer touch-up and unhealthy expectations. Things are only considered lovely or pleasing if they are physically attractive. These destructive standards in modern society are resulting in body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and other self-destructive activities.
The makers of the series Breaking Beauty aim to challenge our preconceived notions of beauty and encourages its audience in a fun and loving way to broaden their definitions as Josh visits with circus performers, burlesque dancers, sports mascots, passionate filmmakers, fitness trainers, and even a black Santa to discover where actual beauty truly lies.
