About three hours north of Sudbury, Ontario, on the land of the Mattagami First Nation, a project to build a gold mine is coming to fruition. In preparation, SGS and Indigenous leaders have been participating in weekly telephone calls as a way of creating collaboration through consultation. The shared knowledge has formed a solid bedrock upon which to build the framework of this project and it has been exciting to watch. Through our partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, we’ve produced an awareness video highlighting the collaboration between SGS and members of this First Nation – some of whom are also SGS employees. Our lab, situated within the Mattagami First Nation’s territory, is working hand in hand with the local community to nurture communal success and understanding.
