It shows from the report “What do Poles know about cardioprotection and cardiac rehabilitation?” that as many as 2/3 Poles have never come across the concept of cardiac rehabilitation, and 92% of the respondents have never been given any recommendations. More than 85% Poles have also claimed that they have never had their cardiovascular risk assessed by a primary care physician. At the same time, cardioprotection and cardiac rehabilitation recommended already at the outpatient specialist care and primary care level is very important for the Ministry of Health and KOLs as a planned systemic change.
Polocard is recommended by pharmacists, especially in patients after incidents e.g. in secondary cardioprotection (~61%); therefore, it is important to educate the society in this respect. Although cardiovascular system diseases are the most common causes of death in Poland, there is still insufficient knowledge on both preventing cardiac diseases and on the necessity of rehabilitation after occurrence of a cardiac event.
We facilitate access to cardiac rehabilitation. In Poland, too few patients receive recommendations to undergo cardiac rehabilitation and have access to centres. According to experts, failure to recommend rehabilitation is a medical malpractice. The goal is to build awareness of cardiac rehabilitation and its four elements.
Campaign strategy: Promoting cardioprotection and cardiac rehabilitation, together with positioning Polocard as the path to effective care of the heart. There is no effective cardioprotection and cardiac rehabilitation without the 4 pillars:
• Physical activity
• Balanced diet
• Psychological support
• Pharmacotherapy (regular use of Polocard)
Our media activities and preventive actions have reached nearly 20 million Poles! The campaign has been remembered by 77% of the respondent pharmacists, which translates into recommendation of Polocard in a pharmacy. We introduce new tools, i.e. CardioTest and CardioRehab for patients and personnel. We use the largest Polish media dealing with health topics, such as Medonet, Gazeta Wyborcza, Rynek Zdrowia, Polskie Radio, nasze-miasto. More than 5K Poles have used CardioTest. As part of the press office, since the beginning of the year, approx. 1700 publications have appeared with a total coverage of 10,264,812 people and worth of 4,383,258 PLN.
