To launch the collaborative collection between two Carioca brands — Makai, a clothing brand, and Gringa, a luxury handbag brand — Osllo Mídia created and produced a fashion film that playfully subverts stereotypes while celebrating the unique spirit of Rio de Janeiro’s beach culture. The collection is presented through a lighthearted yet stylish narrative that introduces a "gringa" with a Brazilian soul. In Rio, “gringa” is a term often used to describe a foreigner, typically carrying the stereotype of an outsider to Brazilian culture. The brand's name "Gringa" also directly inspired the narrative, as the film brings this "gringa" into a Brazilian context, blending the two identities seamlessly.
Set against the backdrop of Rio’s iconic beaches, the film follows this foreign protagonist as she seamlessly blends into local life. She plays altinha, a popular beach sport in Brazil; drinks mate and eats Biscoito Globo, a typical beach snack in Rio, and confidently shows off her tan lines. Each scene reveals a new piece from the collection, integrated organically into her experience — allowing fashion to become part of the story rather than just the visual focus.
The aesthetic is clean and sun-soaked, with an emphasis on natural light, textures, and authentic details. The creative direction embraces the vibrant atmosphere of the city, using fashion as a language of identity, humor, and cultural crossover.
Entirely conceptualized, written, and produced by Osllo Mídia, the project was designed for digital release, especially on social platforms, aiming to speak directly to the young, free-spirited, and diverse audience of both brands. The film blurs the lines between narrative and campaign, combining style and storytelling in a way that feels fresh, playful, and proudly local.
