MyJCB is a credit card management application provided by JCB, Japan's only international payment brand, designed to serve users across all age groups with varying levels of IT and financial literacy. In Japan's growing cashless society, where users prioritize secure and reliable usage over convenience, the application was developed under the concept of "Card-App Integration" to revolutionize the unchanged credit card experience and communication, while addressing challenges such as difficulty in tracking card usage and increasing fraud risks.
Based on comprehensive research involving feedback from over 20,000 users and interviews with more than 50 participants, the application offers a unique approach to security visualization. The "Security Setting Status" feature provides a clear visual representation of security configuration levels, allowing users to customize their balance between security and convenience according to their preferences.
The application incorporates intuitive design elements, including easy-to-read fonts, adjustable sizes, and simplified financial terminology, ensuring accessibility regardless of financial literacy. While constantly detecting fraudulent use and displaying card usage status, the communication design presents a state of safe usage, ensuring that users not only check for anomalies but always feel secure.
A distinctive feature is the personalization based on card grades, transforming a purely functional financial application into a more user-friendly experience. High-grade cardholders can access integrated concierge services, such as restaurant reservations, entirely within the application. The platform offers unique value through services such as reservations for exclusive restaurants and golf courses not typically available through traditional channels.
The application has achieved remarkable success, maintaining an App Store rating of 4.6 or higher, exceeding 5.8 million downloads. The visualization of security status has doubled the rate of voluntary information updates compared to previous levels, contributing to reduced security risks and enhanced user understanding of security measures.
Through thoughtful design and implementation, MyJCB contributes to Japan's national policy of promoting a cashless society while ensuring that no one is left behind, regardless of their financial literacy level.
