For the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s 2024 Conference & Exchange, the goal was to bring the theme “Defining New Norms” to life through intentional, visually compelling design. Every element—from large-scale installations to digital signage—was crafted to spark curiosity, guide engagement, and create a cohesive, future-focused experience for attendees.
Inspired by the bead maze toy often associated with childhood creativity, we designed sculptural spheres that symbolized non-linear progress and bold imagination. These vibrant installations doubled as striking visuals and intuitive wayfinding, standing out against the convention center’s architecture and reinforcing the message that new norms emerge through innovation.
A key focus was sustainability. We transitioned traditional printed materials—such as signage and sponsor boards—to digital formats. This not only reduced waste but also allowed for real-time updates and consistent branding throughout the venue. Onsite materials like name badges, menus, and table cards were carefully designed to match the overall visual identity, contributing to a seamless brand experience.
We built multi-sensory touchpoints that encouraged attendees to engage with the event narrative on a deeper level. Activation spaces integrated sound, motion, and tactile elements to convey stories around supplier diversity, economic inclusion, and empowerment. Visual storytelling extended into social-friendly displays that prompted organic content creation and broadened the event’s digital footprint.
Design wasn’t treated as a backdrop—it was an active part of the attendee journey. Branded moments were embedded into the environment in a way that felt purposeful and energizing. Each design decision supported the event’s core values while delivering clarity, inspiration, and impact.
Collaboration was essential. We worked closely with NMSDC leadership, sponsors, and production partners to align on messaging, execution, and experience. Every piece was reviewed through the lens of functionality, creativity, and resonance with the audience.
In the end, the event design elevated the conference from functional to memorable—demonstrating how thoughtful creativity can shape how people feel, connect, and move forward together.
