Mayo Clinic Magazine is the flagship publication of Mayo Clinic, a nonprofit academic medical center globally recognized for its commitment to integrated clinical practice, education, and research. Published biannually, the magazine reaches 16,000 readers worldwide and brings to life the human stories that define the institution’s core values. It highlights patients overcoming complex health challenges, groundbreaking medical innovations, and emerging technologies transforming the future of healthcare, often made possible by the generosity of Mayo Clinic’s philanthropic support.
Issue 2 of 2025 explores a future of healthcare—one that is more continuous, personalized and deeply human. It highlights how intelligent automation and artificial intelligence are reducing administrative burden and synthesizing complex data, empowering clinicians to spend more time on compassionate, patient-centered care. The issue examines the “automation paradox,” showing how streamlining routine tasks enables greater focus on empathy and clinical judgment while keeping patient needs at the center of every innovation.
To visualize intelligent automation, the magazine partnered with a renowned artist to create an original piece for The Power and Precision of Automation feature story. Bold color and light integrated into the linework capture momentum and signal a bright, forward-looking future.
Other feature stories explore visionary research strategies that move medicine from reactive treatment to proactive health management. N of 1 highlights this shift through an original mixed-media visual combining portraiture and illustrative linework to envision the future of precision healthcare prevention.
In Mini Brain, Major Breakthroughs, groundbreaking scientific advances—such as brain organoids—are reshaping how diseases are studied and treated. Laboratory photography, captured through glass, depicts a researcher placing a brain organoid into a petri dish, underscoring the precision, care and human touch behind the science. Together, these narratives present a future where digital and physical care seamlessly integrate to deliver more personalized, hopeful and human healthcare.
Each article is accompanied by original photography and artwork from award-winning artists, adding visual depth to the magazine’s editorial content. Printed oversized at 9.5 x 11.75 inches with a perfect bind on Mohawk Superfine uncoated eggshell paper, Mayo Clinic Magazine is designed to be both visually striking and tactilely refined.
