Ten years ago, on March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law the most sweeping reform to America’s healthcare system since the 1960s—the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA, or Obamacare, as it’s often referred to, expanded coverage for millions of Americans and changed the way people access medical care throughout the country.
Though the legislation accomplished many important objectives, its passage ushered in an era of political polarization, debate and consternation. The future of the law is currently in the hands of the courts.
Blue Chalk partnered with the Commonwealth Fund to create this short documentary that tells the story of how the act got passed and the impact it’s had over the past decade since its introduction. The film was published on the tenth anniversary.
