In 2019, Brickworks and Enbridge Gas executed the highly successful Home Winterproofing Mobile Tour, designed to engage with homeowners directly and share important program information one-on-one.
Enbridge’s Home Winterproofing Program offers free home upgrades, including draft proofing, insulation, smart thermostats, and professional installation, to qualifying low-income households in the Enbridge Gas service area. These upgrades can greatly reduce drafts and air leaks, improving heat retention, keeping older homes comfortable, and providing annual energy savings of up to 30%.
Despite the program being completely free of charge to those who qualify, it can be surprisingly difficult to market and promote, due to a general reluctance to engage with large companies along with the prevalent feeling that “there must be a catch”. Knowing that customers now expect better, more personalized and honest engagement, we moved away from traditional marketing and into an innovative mobile marketing tour to share the program with Enbridge Gas customers all across Ontario.
Our experienced team has attended events both large and small, giving customers tours of our fully furnished “Mobile Showroom” to demonstrate exactly what is involved when participating in the Home Winterproofing program. This includes interactive displays showcasing smart thermostat technology, draft proofing, insulation, and the "blower door test" (used as part of the program to measure a home's heat and energy loss). Our team then collects applications from qualifying customers, or shares information about Enbridge’s other residential programs for those who do not qualify for Home Winterproofing.
With a beautifully designed mobile unit, the tour was a huge success throughout 2019, with the team engaging customers at events including the CNE, Winterlude, the National Home Show, the Collingwood Elvis Festival, and dozens of other festivals, fairs, and engagements.
Visitors to the truck can expect to learn about not just the program, but their home's energy use in general. Currently, the tour truck is planned for adaptation to the current state of affairs in 2020. Once society and small gatherings re-open, our team will be following strict hygiene and safety measures even well after social distancing has ended.
